Information Session: How to Apply for Project Funding for Contemporary Circus Projects from the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media (BKM)

15 September 2026 | 5:00–7:00 p.m. | F-Pavilion (Rentzelstraße 36–40, 20146 Hamburg)

Information Session: How to Apply for Project Funding for Contemporary Circus Projects from the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media (BKM)

The Dachverband freie darstellende Künste Hamburg (DfdK) invites contemporary circus artists based in Hamburg to an open information session. Together, we will take a closer look at the project funding programme for the independent performing arts offered by the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media (BKM) and explore practical questions such as:

  • Who is eligible to apply for funding?

  • What makes a strong funding application?

  • What does the application process look like?

The session is open to everyone working artistically in the field of contemporary circus – whether as a solo artist, collective, or company. We warmly welcome both those who have never submitted a funding application before and those with some previous experience who would like to exchange ideas and deepen their understanding of the process.

In an informal setting, we will provide an overview of the funding programme, answer questions, share experiences, and discuss what makes a successful application. We will also look at the steps needed to prepare an application ahead of the next submission deadline on 15 November. Our aim is to lower barriers and encourage more contemporary circus productions to benefit from the BKM's funding programme for the independent performing arts in Hamburg.

We would appreciate it if you could register in advance by emailing anmeldung@dfdk.de, although spontaneous participants are very welcome as well.

The event will be held in spoken German. Contributions in English are very welcome. If needed, we will try to arrange whispered English–German interpretation—please contact us in advance if you require this.
