How do you turn an artistic idea into a realistic budget and financing plan (Kosten- und Finanzierungsplan, KFP)? Which expenses need to be taken into account, how can costs be structured effectively – and how can you keep track of your finances throughout the project?
This workshop is about translating a project idea into figures step by step and developing a solid KFP for funding applications. We will look at how a budget and financing plan is structured, the logic behind it, and what makes financial planning convincing and realistic. We will also discuss important terms and budget items such as minimum fee standards, fees subject to KSK contributions, and GEMA fees.
We will also focus on practical implementation: Which tools can help with project accounting? How can you keep track of income and expenses throughout a project? And what should you do if the financing plan changes during the course of a project? Together, we will build confidence in working with figures and create a solid foundation for applying for funding and implementing artistic projects.
Participants have the opportunity to send their own budget and financing plans to the workshop facilitator no later than one week before the workshop. Following the workshop (until approx. 5 pm), there will be an opportunity to receive individual advice from Julia zur Lippe.
The workshop will be held in spoken German; contributions in English are welcome at any time.
The participation fee is €10 per person, reduced to €7 for DfdK members. The workshop takes place on the first floor; there is no elevator.
Short bio: Julia zur Lippe | Born in 1972 in Datteln (North Rhine-Westphalia) and raised in East Westphalia, Julia zur Lippe is now based in Hamburg and Berlin. While studying Cultural Management at the University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Politics in Hamburg, she co-founded the literature and music festival WEGE DURCH DAS LAND in North Rhine-Westphalia together with Brigitte Labs-Ehlert. After graduating in 2004, she worked as a freelance production manager, supporting artists and productions in Hamburg, North Rhine-Westphalia and beyond, including projects in neighboring European countries such as the Czech Republic and France.
In 2010, she took over project coordination at the transcultural arts association Hajusom e.V., where she later became managing director. During her time there, the association's team grew to five permanent staff members and up to 40 freelance workers around ensemble premieres. Artistic collaborations extended beyond Europe, with a particular focus on West African countries such as Mali and Burkina Faso.
Since September 2022, Julia zur Lippe has been managing director and co-artistic director of LICHTHOF Theater in Hamburg. Her position is part-time, allowing her to continue working as a freelance production manager and project manager. She has been active at the Dachverband freie darstellende Künste since 2023, initially as a member of the board and now as a member of the advisory board.
