Funding Opportunities for Independent Performing Arts

March 24, 2026 | 10 AM – 2 PM | Administrative Building Kampnagel, Schlangenraum (2nd floor), Jarrestraße 20

Applying for the wrong funding costs time and energy — the right one can push a project forward decisively. For independent performing arts, programs are available at the EU, federal, state (Hamburg), district, and municipal levels, as well as through foundations and other funding bodies. Often, it also pays off to look beyond the classic funding pots: programs from social or neighborhood culture, democracy promotion, or other areas can be just as relevant for projects.

In this workshop, we provide an overview of the different funding landscapes and financing options for artistic projects in independent performing arts. Together, we develop strategies on which funding fits which project and when the right time to apply is. We will also look at how projects can be planned realistically and sustainably over the long term.

Registration is open now. The number of participants is limited to 12.

The workshop will be held in German, but funding applications and project descriptions can also be submitted in English. Contributions in English are warmly welcome! The workshop takes place on the 2nd floor — no elevator available.

Workshop will be conducted in German spoken language.

Since 2020, he has been leading the Hamburg festival fluctoplasma – 96h Art, Discourse, Diversity with his production company Studio Marshmallow, and he serves as deputy chair of the LAG Kinder- und Jugendkultur Hamburg. In 2021, he, together with the entire ensemble, received the German Radio Drama Award for his acting performance. Since 2023, he has been co-chair of the board of the Fonds Darstellende Künste.
