In this workshop, we will examine the forms and effects of racism and its overlaps with other forms of structural discrimination in the working context of the independent performing arts from an intersectional perspective. Participants will engage in self-reflection, input and exchange in small groups in order to confront and counter structural discrimination in different situations (in their working context). Strategies for dealing with racism and discrimination will be developed together and applied in exercises.
Finally, we also want to discuss our different positions and privileges. What attitudes and options for action arise from this for us and our work? Together we want to develop an (initial) understanding of allyship.
The workshop will be enriched with concrete examples and incidents from artistic practice based on lived experiences in the everyday work of performing artists.
Speakers: Tejan Lamboi (W3_Werkstatt für internationale Kultur und Politik e.V.) with support in the practical part by DfdK member Meredith Nicoll
