Empowerment workshop for freelance artists and cultural workers with migration experience in cooperation with the Werkstatt für internationale Kultur und Politik e.V. (W3_ Hamburg). The event is part of the public program of the mentoring format for cultural professionals with a migration background, which is supported by the INTRO program.
Many artists and cultural practitioners with experience of migration experience exclusion on a daily basis - whether in applications, in funding structures or due to language and social barriers. In this workshop, we will create space to exchange ideas, name experiences of discrimination, share knowledge and develop perspectives together: How can we network, empower each other and stand up for fairer conditions in the cultural sector? As part of the empowerment group, we share our experiences and cases of discrimination on the labor market in the cultural and arts sector in Hamburg. We discuss how discrimination - for example when looking for work, through low pay or language barriers - is recognized, how to react to it and what strategies we use to overcome obstacles.
The aim of the meeting is to create a safe space to share opinions and experiences. Together we want to find ways to protect our rights, strengthen psychological resilience and support each other. We work in an atmosphere of solidarity to strengthen the community and offer each other support.
